Two USP staff are among a group of international recipients of the prestigious Study of the U.S Institute for Scholars (SUSI) fellowship this year.
USP Journalism Programme coordinator Dr Shailendra Singh and USP counsellor Saimone Tuni will participate in separate six-week fellowships in the United States, from June to July 2019.

Afghanistan Ambassador visits USP - 6 Jun 2019 12:45:08 pm
His Excellency Mr Wahidullah Waissi, Ambassador of Afghanistan to Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, paid a courtesy visit to The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Laucala Campus on 4 June 2019.
Professor Pal Ahluwalia, Vice-Chancellor and President of USP extended a warm welcome to H.E Waissi, who reciprocated the kind gesture.
H.E Waissi was informed that the University would like to have more students from Afghanistan studying at USP.

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Pal Ahluwalia has been awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the University of California (UC), Riverside for his distinguished contribution to the promotion of Sikh Studies in the Diaspora.
Professor Pal received the Dr. Jasbir Singh Saini Endowed Chair in Sikh and Punjabi Studies award during the 6th Sikh Studies Conference held at the University of California, Riverside on 3 May 2019.

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Niue Campus is excited to welcome its inaugural Master of Business Administration (MBA) Niue cohort.
Following orientation on 13 May 2019, MBA 423 (Human Resource Management) and MBA 435 (Organisational Behaviour) have been going on well with Dr. Sunia Vosikata from the Laucala Campus.
Dr. Sunia is currently moulding the students back into learning mode as almost all are matured students and have been away from the classroom for quite some time.

Around 30 students from The University of the South Pacific (USP), Pacific Technical and Further Education (Pacific TAFE), Nadi Hospitality Tourism and Training Centre (NHTTC) received certificates of participation for providing hospitality and etiquette services during the Asian Development Bank meeting on 1-5 May 2019 in Nadi.

The University of the South Pacific (USP) hosted an inaugural talanoa session to discuss the Pacific European Union Marine Partnership (PEUMP) Programme at its Lower Campus in Suva on 17 May, 2019.
PEUMP is a multi-partnership programme implemented by USP, the Pacific Community (SPC), the Forum Fisheries Agency (SPC), the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) and in close collaboration with several international and regional NGOs.

USP lauds EU support for GHG emission reduction - 28 May 2019 09:08:04 am
The European Union’s (EU) new initiative to support the Pacific Region's preparation and effective participation in the negotiations on Green House Gas (GHG) emissions reduction from international shipping held at the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) has been commended by The University of the South Pacific (USP).
According to the EU, the new initiative will provide capacity building and support to the Pacific IMO delegations during the 2019 and 2020 periods.

Two students from The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Tuvalu Campus scooped first and second prizes at a Public Speaking Competition to mark ‘World Tuna Day’ celebration in Tuvalu on 1 May 2019.
Ms. Fagasele Kiatoa, Ms. Lilipeti Suiti and Mr. Apisai Apisai, all Foundation Arts students, were selected to speak on the theme, “Tuna is Health”. They competed in the second category - ‘Form 7 and Foundation’ and grabbed the first and third awards.
