Tuvalu youth attend Climate Change workshop - 27 Nov 2019 01:07:39 pm
A total of forty-five (45) Tuvalu youth and primary school students attended a weeklong Climate Change Creative Writing writeshop at The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Tuvalu Campus from 16-25 October 2019. The writeshop was organised by USP Tuvalu Campus in collaboration with a Fulbright Scholar from the University of Adelaide, Australia, Daniel Sherrell. Participants received certificates of participation. Team Fiji wins 5 matches at FIRST Robotics Challenge in Dubai - 26 Nov 2019 03:04:30 pm
Team Fiji comprising eight students from four secondary schools in Suva won five consecutive matches at the second annual “FIRST Global Challenge” held in Dubai from 24-27 October 2019. Year 13 students from Suva Grammar School, Yat Sen Secondary School, Jai Narayan College and MGM High School had represented Fiji and its stand on Ocean Pollution and technological awareness. The University of the South Pacific (USP) rewarded its best-performing academic staff and students for their high quality research outputs in 2018 at a special Research Awards Evening on November 21 2019. Dr Shailendra Singh, Senior Lecturer & Coordinator of USP's Journalism programme, scooped the 2018 USP Vice-Chancellor’s Prize for Best Research Output for a "Research into the Condition of Journalism in Fiji", 10 years after the 2006 coup and six years under the punitive media decree. USP Confucius Institute graduates 154 students - 22 Nov 2019 03:26:33 pm
A total of 154 students of The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Confucius Institute (CI) graduated (Social Courses) in the second semester of 2019. Forty-seven of these were awarded in a special ceremony at the Laucala Campus on 1 November 2019. Sixteen students graduated from USP’s Lautoka Campus; sixty-six from Emalus Campus in Vanuatu and twenty-five from the Cook Islands Campus. A total of 62 Post Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Teaching (PGCTT) graduates received their certificates in a first of its kind as part of the programme’s accreditation with United Kingdom-based Staff and Educational Development Association (SEDA). The University of the South Pacific (USP) achieved premier ranking for Propensity to Recommend, Good Teachers, Programme Content, Language Support, Employability, and Health Care through a global survey on student satisfaction led by members of International Centre of Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality (THE – ICE). Staff, students and families of The University of the South Pacific (USP) turned up in numbers for their free measles vaccination at the Campus Life Health & Wellness Centre in Laucala on 15 November 2019. In response to the current measles outbreak in some parts of Fiji, USP’s Campus Life section organised the free vaccination drive on campus in partnership with the Ministry of Health & Medical Services.
