The South Pacific Region’s first ever Bioprospecting Samples Database (BSD) created by The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Institute of Applied Science (IAS) was jointly launched at the Pearl Resort on 20 July 2018.
Officially launching the BSD were Chief Guests, Dr Winifereti Nainoca, United Nations Development Progamme (UNDP) Environment Team Leader; Mr Joshua Wycliffe, Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Environment (MoE); Mr Naipote Katonitabua, Permanent Secretary for iTaukei Affairs (MTA) and Dr Johann Poinapen, IAS Director.

On the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of The University of the South Pacific (USP), the Centre for Flexible Learning (CFL) officially launched two (2) books on Flexible Learning at the University’s Laucala Campus on 30 August 2018.

Child Protection Policy Workshop at USP Labasa Campus - 1 Sep 2018 10:18:00 am
The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) hosted staff, students and members of the community to a two-day workshop on Child Protection Policy at its Labasa Campus.
This was done in an effort by the University to have a child protection policy for its students. The workshop which ran from 30-31 August 2018 was facilitated by Mr. Laisiasa Merumeru, Ms Sai Nabou and Dr Kelesi Whippy from the Faculty of Arts, Law and Education (FALE) at the Laucala Campus.

The University of the South Pacific (USP) held its 2018 Vice-Chancellor’s Forum on Learning and Teaching (L&T) at the Laucala Campus on 30 August, 2018.

The University of the South Pacific (USP) hosted a Research Skills symposium opened by the Chief Guest, Honourable Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum Attorney-General and Minister for Economy, Public Enterprises, Civil Service & Communications at the Holiday Inn in Suva on 29 August 2018.

The University of the South Pacific (USP) hosted a meeting with the Australia Awards Pacific Scholarships (AAPS)-sponsored students at the Japan-Pacific ICT Theatre at the Laucala Campus on 16 August 2018.

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Niue Campus recently welcomed a team of student researchers from Yonsei University in South Korea called the Asia Sustainable Social Innovation Strategy Team (ASSIST) from 18-31 July 2018.
