The University of the South Pacific flag along with flags of its 12 Member Countries fly at half mast as a sign of mourning on the passing of His Majesty King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV of Tonga. King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV was amongst the group of distinguished Pacific leaders who had the vision to establish the University and USP was honoured when he served as its first Chancellor from 1971 to 1973. As a mark of respect, flags at all USP Campuses are flying at half mast today, Tuesday September 19, the day of His Majesty’s funeral. The University is also being represented at the funeral by a delegation to be led by Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dr Ana Taufe'ulungaki.
