USP announces ‘2012 Enroll Now Campaign’ winners

A special function was held by the University of the South Pacific to reward winners of the 2012 Enroll Now Campaign.

The function, organised by the University’s Development, Marketing, Communications and Alumni (DMCA) Office was held on 30 April, 2012.

The Director of DMCA, Mr Jaindra Karan, welcomed the students and said that the function was to award prizes to students who entered in the draw before 31 January, 2012.

The prizes other than the laptop, was sponsored by Vodafone Fiji Ltd. Mr Karan thanked Vodafone for its support.

The prizes were presented by the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Planning and Quality) of USP, Dr Michael Gregory, and the Associate Dean (Learning and Teaching) of the Faculty of Science, Technology and Environment, Dr Bibhya Sharma.

Dr Gregory thanked the students for taking time out of their busy schedules to be part of the special presentation. He described the 13 percent growth in enrolment this year as very promising.

“Make the most out of your time here at USP by learning as much as you can, while at the same time enjoying the unique USP environment and the student life activities and events,” he advised students.

Similar views were expressed by Dr Sharma, who congratulated the students and emphasized to them that studies should be given first priority during their time at USP.

Five students happily walked away with prizes such as Vodafone Webbox, touch screen mobile phones and a Toshiba Laptop.

The winner of the of the main prize, a Toshiba Laptop, Ms Joana Kaloucava said that she was very happy after finding out that she had won.

“At first, when I received an email from USP stating that I had won, I thought it was a spam mail but then I contacted the DMCA office and was informed that I had won a Toshiba Laptop. I was so happy after hearing the news,” said Ms Kaloucava, who is pursuing her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting and Economics.

Another winner, Mr Jason Bali, who has enrolled in the Diploma in Management programme said that, “this initiative proves that USP is interested in looking after its students and providing them with the best opportunities to make their University experience a very exciting and meaningful one.”

Adi Kelera Boki-Ratu, a Bachelor of Psychology student shared similar sentiments.

“The prize is a big morale boost. These few months here at USP has definitely been a great experience for me and for most of my friends,” said Ms Boki-Ratu.

She went on to thank USP for the quality of service it provides.

Other winners included Ms Lucya Leong, from the Solomon Islands studying at the Laucala Campus, and Ms Agnes Kin.
