It was an entertaining and fun-packed day for students and staff of the University of the South Pacific’s Lautoka Campus and their families, who participated in the USP Family Fun Day on 1 September, 2012.
This year’s event, which was held at the Natabua High School grounds, featured a more interesting variety of games, fun activities and competitions for both adults and children.
The day began with lively zumba exercises led by a USP student, followed by coconut scraping competitions for students, apple-eating competitions for younger children, mixed netball, volley ball and mixed soccer tournaments. There was also sack races and Pani game competitions for both students and children as well as the tug-of-war competitions. Another highlight of the day was the free face-painting available for children, which added more colour and fun to the atmosphere.
While everyone was encouraged to participate in the activities, those who opted to remain as spectators were kept entertained throughout the day as there was always something exciting to watch.
The Family Fun Day is organised once annually so that USP students, staff and their families can get together and simply have a relaxing, fun-filled day. It is a perfect day to just spend quality time with fellow students, colleagues and family members.
The Organising Committee Chairman of this year’s event, USP Lautoka Campus Student Academic Services Coordinator, Mr Joseva Veresi acknowledged the support and participation shown by the staff and students of the University.
“Your presence greatly added to the success of this year’s event and I am sure you all had a fun and enjoyable day,” he said.
The participants were provided with refreshments and lunch. The day concluded with mixed relay race competitions.
