An academic of The University of the South Pacific (USP) reached new heights of excellence after being awarded with the Amity Global Academic Excellence Award.
Dr Gurmeet Singh, who is the Associate Dean, Research and Graduate Affairs at the Faculty of Business and Economics (FBE), was among six recipients of this award and was honoured during the 16th International Business Horizon Summit held at Amity University’s Noida Campus in India.
The award was based on Dr Singh’s extensive academic background and contribution in the field of education & research.
Amity University’s International Business School organises annual international business summits, which are renowned events in their respective domains. Academicians, noted industrialists and distinguished delegates from all around the world participate and present their research findings on the latest developments on management.
Dr Singh was invited as a distinguished guest to the Summit, where he was part of a panel discussion on “E = E³ : The Future of Education is Dependent on Entrepreneurship, Employment and Economic Development.”
While dedicating the award to his family, students and colleagues at USP, Dr Singh highlighted that the award has enabled the University to earn world-wide respect for the contributions it has made through FBE to the field of higher education.
Ever since he joined USP in 2006, Dr Singh said that he has had a number of new educational experiences that has made him a much better researcher and educator, adding that, “teaching and researching at the University has been a worthwhile experience.”
“I really believe it is a privilege to be faculty at USP and I am so glad I made that decision,” he further stated.
The Associate Dean had also won “Japan’s Outstanding Research on Development Award” by Global Development Network in 2009.
Dr Singh has over 20 years of experience in teaching, research, consultancy and executive training for industries. He held teaching and research assignments at various universities in India and Africa prior to joining USP. He has not only taught but developed various courses in the area of marketing both at graduate and undergraduate levels.
