The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) held atwo-day Visioning Workshop at the Holiday Inn in Suva, Fiji to undertake deliberation on its future and envisioning its strategic positioning in 2024.
This effort was part of its New Strategic Plan 2019-2024 initiative, particularly focused on ascertaining the proposed Vision, Mission, Core Values, Priority Areas and Key Objectives to guide the work of the University over the new two trienniums.
The outcomes of the workshop were successfully achieved in that the workshop participants that included Senior Management Team (SMT), Academics, Head of Functional Areas, Directors and Regional Campus Directors, Staff and student representative of the University collectively agreed on the key components.
Professor Rajesh, Vice-Chancellor and President, thanked all staff participants for attending the workshop and sharing their ideas and visions for the new strategic plan for USP.
“I commend the staff of the University for thinking beyond the ordinary and for highlighting what the Pacific is really capable of,” Professor Chandra added.
“The discussions and engagements over the two days have been very fruitful and I hope that all this will transform into the vision that we see for the University in 2024,” he added.
The two day workshop involved priority area presentations made by respective line SMTs and managers. Participants got the opportunity to identify planning gaps and lessons learnt in relation to their respective priority areas in the current Strategic Plan (2013 -2018) and envisioned USP in 2024 in their respective Priority Areas. .
The participants also discussed the way forward and had a number of plenary sessions to deliberate on the outcomes and objectives of the meeting.
The drafted Vision, Mission, Core Values, Priority Areas and Key Objectives will be presented to the University Council at its 85th meeting in Nadi from 24 - 25th October, 2017.
USP’s current Strategic Plan (2013-2018) officially comes to a close in December 2018.
