Tablet winners with Mr Hasmukh Lal, Executive Director Pacific TAFE.
Fifty (50) students of The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Pacific Technical and Further Education (Pacific TAFE) were handed promotional tablets at the Pacific TAFE Conference Room at the Laucala Campus on 27 April 2018.
The tablets were handed over by Mr Hasmukh Lal, Executive Director of Pacific TAFE to students who had paid their fees in full through a random draw of names.
The draw was conducted using random selection function from Excel and was witnessed by Pacific TAFE’s Executive Management Team and independent observers from other sections of the University.
Mr Lal said this is the first time that Pacific TAFE has embarked on a new trend to reward its students who ensure that they have their tuition fees paid on or before time.
“This is also an opportunity for us to show our appreciation towards our students, for choosing to study with Pacific TAFE, as a means to advance their skills and career goals,” Mr Lal said.
He added that the latest trend in technology is that people tend to spend a lot of their time on social media and social networking sites which he added is how the tablet will be mostly used for.
“However, our hopes are, that these tablets will support you in your studies, research projects, assignments and other educational activities that are provided online,” he told the students.
Mr Lal further said that they would like to see the students do exceptionally well in their studies and with Pacific TAFE’s Student Learning Support Services, talented and highly professional staff, the team is readily available to assist students in any areas relating to their studies.
He further informed everyone that recently, the Early Childhood Education and Care Programme received Scholarship support from Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade (DFAT) adding that they are consistently working on getting more of its programmes accredited and internationally recognised, to assist its graduates in successfully finding not just a job, but a job that they love.
Currently Pacific TAFE has sixteen (16) nationally accredited programmes by Fiji Higher Education Commission (FHEC) and has received seventeen (17) International Accreditations and Recognitions.
