USP Tuvalu Campus Staff and new students during the Semester 1, 2019 Orientation.
The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Tuvalu Campus hyped up again with excitement as the new students were welcomed during their Orientation programme conducted earlier this year on 15 February 2019.
Reverend Dr. Kitiona Tausi, an MBA student, opened the programme with a word of prayer and advised students and staff that education does not end until one passes on from this earth. As such, one should study hard when given the opportunity.
Dr. Rosiana Lagi, USP Tuvalu Campus Director in her opening remarks echoed the same sentiments highlighted by Rev Dr. Kitiona and quoted the famous saying ‘Time and tide waiteth for no man’ and King Solomon’s ‘For everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under the heavens,’ reiterating the significance of time management in education and its relations to achieving high grades.
The programme showcased the services available at the Campus and students were also introduced to the staff before touring the learning facilities.
Scholarship bodies such as the Tuvalu Government In service and Pre-service scheme and the
Tuvalu National Provident Fund Medical and Education Fund were also on hand to advice on possible funding opportunities for studies.
According to Kaycie Lawson, a preliminary student, “The programme helped me better understand the services provided at the Campus and how to use the learning facilities like Moodle.’
The programme concluded with a welcome feast for the new students.
