As a result, USP will represent Fiji for the International Asian-Oceania ROBOCON competition which will be held from 23 August.

The competition, which provided a platform for university students to demonstrate their capabilities and innovation skills, was held at the International Secondary School Hall, Laucala Beach in Suva.

The competition further aims to help advance engineering and broadcasting technologies in the region and every year, approximately 20 countries in the region participate.

The event is broadcasted in many countries through ABU member broadcasters. Furthermore, USP has been participating in the competition from 2002.

The competition was hosted by FijiTV, FBC and Fijian Government.

At the event last week, Honourable Rosy Akbar, Minister for Education, Heritage & Arts said that the event would help encourage students to cultivate interest in science and technology that will fill the gap of the industry in the future.
