On 20 May, as part of USP Health Week, USP Campus Life launched, a 12 Week Weight Loss Challenge: “Lose It!” to promote better health among our staff and students.
While the immediate goal of the challenge was to promote healthy living and to help the USP Community discover and maintain a healthy balance between work, study and wellness; the overall objective was to provide a supportive environment and effective enjoyment of fitness where staff and students could work on their weight loss goals together, and encourage each other to adopt healthier sustainable lifestyles.
As part of the programme and to further motivate participants, Campus Life rewarded the winner with a CASH PRIZE OF TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS ($2000.00) to the participant with the greatest difference towards the median healthy BMI at the end of the challenge.
Three Hundred and forty-four (344) participants signed up for the challenge and over the course of twelve weeks.
Ms. Tekina Teimaranewas awarded the first place prize with an impressive 13.10 kg weight loss.
Professor Stephen Prattwon second place with an astonishing 12.81 kg weight loss, winning a CASH PRIZE OF ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1000.00).
Mr. Toatu Keitausecured the third place prize with an astounding 11.9 kg weight loss and won a CASH PRIZE OF FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($500.00)
Campus Life is so proud of The University staff & students and the effort they put into the challenge.
The Campus Life Team thanked everyone who participated in the challenge and helped make it a success. They are also having similar initiatives next year.
