At College of Continuing Vocational Education and Training (CVET) we offer Skills Based qualifications. The qualifications are offered at Certificate, Diploma and Professional Diploma Levels.

  1. Certificate IV in Cyber Security

This Cyber Security programme will deepen students’ understanding of cyber security topics, by strengthening their IT skills and preparing them to protect organisations from data breaches using a range of tools and procedures to mitigate cyber security threats and to minimise network vulnerabilities and risks. This programme covers fundamental building blocks of the required skill set. Students will understand the threat and vulnerability landscape through threat modeling and risk assessments. Furthermore, the qualification will provide students with the knowledge and skills to enable them to monitor the risk of cyber security attacks and implement appropriate software defenses. The programme will also encapsulate measures relating to the confidentiality, availability and integrity of information that is processed, stored and communicated by electronic or similar means.   1. Certificate IV in Information Technology (Support)

This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in supporting clients in a range of technical areas. The programme has a strong information technology base of courses with the potential for inclusion of a range of broader industry-specific topics in the areas of service desk and database design.   1. Diploma of Information Technology (Level 5)

This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to administer and manage information and communications technology (ICT) support in small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) using a wide range of general ICT technologies.  Persons working at this level provide a broader rather than specialised ICT support function, applying a wide range of higher level technical skills in ICT areas such as networking, graphic design and digital media technologies, IT support, database development, programming, web designing and project management.   1. Certificate IV in Fisheries Enforcement and Compliance

This qualification provides the technical and practical skills and knowledge expected of competent MCS Officers. The programme covers curricula that comply with standards of competency related to demonstrating knowledge of the Western and Central Pacific Ocean (WCPO) Fishery, MCS concepts and legal frameworks. This programme also helps students to apply MCS tools to effective fisheries management and contribute to effective MCS activities as well as operational planning and coordination.   1. Certificate III In Resilience (Climate Change Adaptation And Disaster Risk Reduction)

This qualification in Resilience provides learners to use the formal vocational education sector to facilitate building national and regional capacity to: raise the level of awareness of Resilience (CCA&DRR), and develop technical skills and knowledge to accurately monitor and assess impacts of climate change and natural hazards; identify solutions to reduce these risks; and plan, manage and implement resilience building projects to reduce damage and losses caused by climate change and natural hazards.   1. Certificate IV In Resilience (Climate Change Adaptation And Disaster Risk Reduction)

This qualification provides learners with opportunities to continue to engage in the workforce and/or to assist, coordinate and lead teams in communities and government agencies to undertake roles such as: gathering relevant information and data for monitoring and reporting of projects in Resilience, providing general and specific information, communications and services to communities, government and development partners on a particular field of Resilience (agriculture, energy and infrastructure, coastal management, fisheries, forestry, health, tourism, water resources), and developing community awareness on matters related to vulnerability, climate change adaptation, mitigation and disaster risk reduction, support implementation and monitoring of Resilience building (CCA and DRR) projects.   1. Certificate IV In Coastal Fisheries and Aquaculture Compliance

The Certificate IV in Coastal Fisheries and Aquaculture Compliance qualification provides the technical skills and knowledge expected of competent Monitoring, Control and Surveillance (MCS) officers.   1. Diploma Of Counselling (LEVEL 5)

This qualification reflects the role of counsellors, who work with clients on personal and psychological issues using established counselling modalities. They use communication, micro-counselling and interviewing skills and draw on varied counselling therapies to assist clients.   1. Certificate III in Early Childhood Care and Education

Early childhood is a period of a child’s life from birth to eight years. This programme focuses on children’s growth, learning and development and the various areas and stages of development involved within this period.  Each course prepares students to recognise children’s learning needs and plan appropriate development programmes that enhance these needs.   1. Certificate IV in Early Childhood Care and Education

This programme broadens students’ knowledge in early childhood education and care. It addresses key areas in growth, learning and development for children from zero (0) to eight (8) years of age. It prepares students with vital skills and knowledge that relate to health, wellbeing and safety; special needs; supporting young children’s behaviour; framework and philosophies on ECEC; children’s rights; child protection as well as skills in planning developmentally appropriate programmes and managing an early childhood education and care centre within a diverse environment. This programme introduces students to the role of libraries in society, the responsibilities of librarians and other information professionals, and current issues such as literacy and intellectual freedom. The Diploma of Library and Information Services aims to produce graduates with the relevant skills and knowledge to be able to effectively support and meet customer demands in libraries and other centres that deal with a large volume of information. Through instruction and demonstration, students will learn skills associated with collection management, cataloguing, research, use of digital tools, developing and promoting activities and programmes, and customer service. This qualification covers cake, pastry and bread preparation, service, storage, knowledge and skills required in the commercial food preparation and service industry. The training also covers industry standards on OHS, food safety, hygiene and sustainable environmental practices.
