Josevata Cava attained his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology & Chemistry from the University of the South Pacific (USP) in 2017 and his Post-Graduate Diploma in Chemistry in 2019.
Prior to working in Research Office, Josevata had previously been involved heavily with the teaching team from the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences for 5 years as a part timer (lab demonstrator & marker) working to assist the students understand Chemistry concepts that governs and relates to everyday life. He has a keen interest in assisting students to become the best versions of themselves knowing that everyone is intelligent but not all have the same intelligence nor the same path to access it. Josevata has also experienced teaching chemistry concepts to degree level students (100, 200 & 300 levels) through the FSTE PASS & Peer Mentoring Programs at the then Faculty of Science, Technology & Environment (FSTE) now divided and called School of Agriculture, Geography, Environment, Oceans and Natural Sciences (SAGEON).
Josevata first came to the position of the Graduate Officer in 2020 through direct appointment when the office was at FSTE; before the office was relocated in July of the same year to Research Office. His official take on the role of the Graduate Officer happened in October, 2021 and he has since taken up the mantle to date. He is the main point of contact for the ACIAR awardees here both here in Fiji and Samoa. Josevata is responsible for the administrative part of all research student coordination and studentship here in USP.
