The Student Charter is a document developed by the Students Association of USP and the University outlining the responsibilties of both you, as a student, and the University during the course of your studies.

This document applies to all registered students of the University undertaking taught or research programmes throughout our 12 USP regional campuses.

The Academic Honesty Policy is designed to inform and provide guidance to students on the issue of academic honesty at the university and is applicable to any student that is enrolled for a USP course or thesis as part of a USP academic programme. Please ensure you familiarise yourself with this important policy

Ensure that your enrolment for the semester is on track by referring to the Enrolment Checklist.

Regional Campuses Students are requested to visit Student Administrative Services and or School/ Academic Staff based at the campus for Academic Advice or any further assistance you may require.

Note for Regional Campus Students:

  • Student ID Cards - Students will only be issued Student ID Cards upon payment of the levied fee by Regional Campuses.
  • Course Materials - Students will only be issued Course Materials upon payment of the levied Fee by Regional Campuses.

Fees & Payment Options

Fee Payment Deadline

The University wishes to now inform all current and future University students that the fee deadline in Semester I, 2018 and thereafter will be Friday Week 4 of classes in an effort to improve collections of fees and also be in line with standard practice in other Universities. This deadline apply for all private students and private sponsors.

 The following process will apply:

 1. Students who have paid no fees at all (i.e., neither tuition nor other fees)

 Students who have paid no fees at all by Friday of Week 4 of classes shall be de-registered on Friday of Week 5 of classes. This means their registration is cancelled, and they owe nothing to the University (i.e., it is as if they never were registered). These students can be re-registered in that Semester if they pay all outstanding fees including penalties within one month of deregistration. Such students will hereafter be required to pay all fees upfront when they next register for courses.

 2. Students owing over 50% of tuition fees, or not paid substantial amount of other fees (e.g., accommodation)

 Students owing over 50% of tuition fees or not paid substantial amount of other fees Friday of Week 4 of classes, shall have their accounts de-activated on Friday of Week 5 of classes. This means they will not have access to Moodle or other facilities, and cannot sit exams, or submit other assessment items. Students’ accounts can only be re-activated if they pay all outstanding fees or make arrangements to pay by maximum of two installments and they have one month to do so;

 3. Students owing less than 50% of tuition fees, and has other fees outstanding

 Students owing less than 50% of tuition fees, and has other fees outstanding (like general service fees), shall be placed on hold on the last day of exams or 2nd Friday of Semester Exams i.e. soon after exams are completed. This means they will have access to Moodle, and will be allowed to sit exams and other assessments, but will not be allowed to register for any new courses, and will not be allowed to access their examination results. To register or gain access to results, such students will be required to pay all outstanding fees, including penalties in full.

 All tuition fee payments made after Friday of Week 4 of classes will incur a penalty fee which will be added to the overall total fees. The penalty fees are as follows:

           Late Payment Fees         First 4 weeks - 31st March - $125   

•           Late Payment Fees         Next 4 weeks - 30th April - $150

 Students paying fees after the deadline for students to withdraw from semester I courses that they do not wish to be assessed in will be charged a penalty fee of $200.

Please avoid the hassle of having your account placed on hold and paying the late payment penalty, and pay your fees before Friday of Week 4 of classes.

Regional and international students approved to study at USP Laucala campus, Fiji are advised to read and familiarize themselves with the standard Immigration requirements before submitting Study Permit applications

Note: Students intending to study in Regional Campuses are asked to liaise with the individual campuses on Study Permit processes they will need to follow.

From Semester I, 2018 persons must sit for the Online ELSA Test in order to register for 200 level courses.

Students admitted to a degree programme in 2010 are only required to take 2 x 100 level university courses (ie. UU114 and UU100) as part of their programme.

Students admitted to a degree programme in 2011 are required to take 2 x 100 level and 2 x 200 level university courses (ie. UU114, UU100, UU200 and UU204) as part of their programme.

UU100A: Information Literacy Module
Summer Flexi School Registrations


                                                                                                                                                        


UU100A - Information Literacy
module will be offered during this summer flexi-school term in Online Mode. The module is primarily designed to develop students Information Literacy Skills required for academic and lifelong learning. Students who are required to complete this module in order to fulfil the requirements of their programme are strongly encouraged to register for this flexi offering to avoid increasing their normal semester workload. Eligibility for registration into UU100A are bound by the following explicit conditions:

Students enrolled into any of the following programme/majors are exempted from UU100 and therefore required to undertake UU100A instead:

·      Single/Double major in Computer Science (CS)

·      Single/Double major in Information Systems (IN)

·      Single/Double major in Accounting (AC)

·      Bachelor of Engineering (BE) – Mechanical and/or Electrical and Electronics streams

·      Bachelor of Geospatial Science (BGS) - Analyst and/or Developer streams

·      Double major in Geospatial Science (GS)

·      Diploma in Geospatial Science (DGS)

*Note: CS/IN/AC major combination with any other major not mentioned above (for e.g. Management and Information Systems double major students) are required to undertake UU100A + an additional 100-level course and not UU100 in order for them to accurately meet the 8X8X8 structure requirement for their undergraduate programme. Without a double major combination from the above exempted list students are not permitted to undertake UU100A but must complete UU100 instead. BNC and BSE programme students are still required to complete UU100 full semester course due to ACS accreditation requirements.

 

Please note that UU100A module will have to be taken in addition to the eight 100-level courses in the first year that is required to be completed as per the 8X8X8 bachelor's programme structure. This simply means that UU100A will be the ninth course to be completed in Year-1 for students enrolled in the above exempted programme/major list making it a compulsory prerequisite to fulfil before progressing onto 200-level courses.

UU100A Winter Flexi-School will be offered from the 4th - 24th of January, 2018 in Online Mode. Online registrations are now open through student online services (SOLS) for Laucala Campus students. Regional Campus students may register manually. Forms for registration into flexi-school courses are available at the SAS office as well as SAS website. The course is offered free of tuition fee charge. Eligible students are urged to register at their earliest.
