The union is glad to annouce to you the dispute on outsourcing of Dinning was refered to high court whereby USP made an undertaking to come back and negotiate with the Union. This very important process is now well uderway and we hope that good sense will prevail when negotiations concludes.
However, some of our members decided to resign from the union inorder to take voluntery package which they have recieved last two weeks[1/12/09] ago. Our existing members of Dinning Hall have been retained until such decision is made and agreed by the Two parties. The Union has made three proposals to the USP which your executive are working on it at the moment.
As expected, we are working hard to try and release shoping vouchers today/tommorrow morning to members.
The sequence of this vouchers will be of Three catergories:
1. Those who have paid up to today will recieve $100
2. Those who fall short or started in the middle of the Year will get $50
3. Those who did not increase their subscription will gets $30 from the Union coffers
We have 3 of our cases in tribunal at the moment and one of them is the LOC which the union had requested the court for pleminary submission and the case is listed for 18th January, 2010.
The Dismissal case of five of our members from Dinning Hall last year is still being defered to next year because of the legal standing which means that the tribunal doesn't have the jurisdiction to hear dismissal cases.
On behalf of your Union executive I take this oppotunity to thank each and every one for their undying support especially in times of uncertainty and despair.
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year.
