Informed Consent
Informed Consent is a legal procedure to ensure that clients of the USP Counselling Centre understand their rights. In order for Informed Consent to be valid, it must be given voluntarily and the client must be considered competent to do so. Other elements of consent include informing the client about:
- Counselling policies and procedures as outlined in the Code of Ethics and Conduct
- Counsellor’s responsibilities
- Client’s responsibilities
- Potential risks and benefits of counselling
