USP Global was launched in 2018 in USP’s 50th year of operation by the then Vice Chancellor Professor Rajesh Chandra and the Pro Vice Chancellor and Director of the Centre for Flexible Learning, Prof Som Naidu. In the initial launch, USP Global partnered with Crystal Delta utilising their xenops platform to offer the short courses.

Since 2023 USP Global shifted to its own in-house platform Open Pasifika where it hosts all short courses offered by USP Global.
