Led by the Manager Development, the Unit is responsible for providing oversight on and management of all funded projects at USP and ensures that the University effectively meets its contractual obligations in a timely delivery of outcomes-based quality project reporting, monitoring, evaluation and financial acquittals. The Unit is USP’s focal point for all funded projects MoU’s/LoA’s and it’s negotiation and works closely with the Project Coordinators and Officers across USP to ensure that the outcomes/goals of the projects are effectively delivered as per the signed Contractual Agreements.

This part of the Unit’s function has a major focus on establishing a benchmark evaluation to ensure “development effectiveness” and the continual monitoring of USP’s performance in collaboration with allied internal stakeholders like the Finance team and MERL team.

The Unit takes a lead role and provides support to the broader network across USP for resource mobilisation and integration capabilities and recommends actions to cohere and improve the effectiveness of active projects and programs, improve other processes, and enhance their relevance.

Integration and engagement are vital components of building strong relationships and achieving organisational unity. Integration involves bringing together diverse elements or systems to work together effectively, while engagement embraces active involvement of individuals or stakeholders in the process. Together, integration and engagement fosters genuine collaboration to achieve USP’s goals including, importantly, systems harmonisation and efficiency gains. Hence, the Unit is responsible for developing, maintaining and implementing the University’s Monitoring and Evaluation Framework.

Further to this, the Unit maintains an active register of all partnerships and donors and undertakes regular audits of the same to ensure compliance with agreed commitments and university policies.

The Unit works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to magnify USP’s positive impact-oriented reporting via bold programs, research and creative activities and strategic initiatives dedicated to sustainability, equity and global excellence and engagement – in general, supporting Research and Innovation activities across the University.
