Bio

Lyanne Vaurasi is an Assistant Lecturer – Law at the University of the South Pacific. She is the course coordinator of the Professional Diploma in Legislative Drafting (PDLD) Programme. She is also a module instructor for two modules of the Professional Diploma in Legal Practice (PDLP) Programme: Ethics, Professionalism and Work Skills and Business Law, Skills and Practice.

Lyanne began her career at the Office of the Attorney-General in Fiji as a legal officer and rose to the position of Chief Law Draftsperson. She also held the statutory position of Commissioner of the Revised Edition of the Laws of Fiji while employed at the Office of the Attorney-General in Fiji, as well as positions on various statutory boards in Fiji, including the Accident Compensation Commission Fiji (ACCF), the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) and the Film Control Board.

Lyanne has also worked as a senior lawyer at the Department of Justice and Border Control in Nauru.

In 2019, she was elected as the region’s representative on the Commonwealth Association of Legislative Counsel (CALC) Council in Zambia and held that appointment for a term of two years.
