Bio

Shivendra Nath has been admitted to the bar as a Barrister and Solicitor in Fiji and also runs his own practice. Mr. Nath has been researching on the International Criminal Court and the Pacific, Food Security in the Pacific, Cyber Crime,  Geopolitics in the Pacific. He is a former State Counsel and has acquired extensive trial experience as a Prosecutor in his years of service at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions where he has worked in the Child Protection Department, the General Crimes Division, Anti Human Trafficking Department and at the various District levels in Fiji.

Mr. Nath has prominently featured in the Court system  as a private Practitioner. He is a general Practitioner handling litigation, commercial and conveyancing matters. Mr. Nath has also carried out various pro bono consultancy programs in the educational, agriculture and religious organisations. He has also successfully defended high profile Criminal cases in Fiji and is still in practice.

Further to his legal studies, Mr. Nath is also an academic and a former Lecturer at the University of Fiji. He has successfully presented papers at the University of Canterbury, Parliament Special Committee on Cyber Crime Bill, and at the Fiji Sugar Corporation.  He is also a member of International Association of Prosecutors and has also acquired advocacy and prosecutorial training at international/local conferences as a Prosecutor and as a Private Practitioner.

On his USP tenure Mr. Nath was an academic consultant with the Community Centre of Education since 2021 and pioneered Paralegal Studies successfully bridging the gap between theory and practice before joining at the Community Legal Information Centre in Laucala Campus.
