tele Leiataua-Dutt is Assistant Lecturer in Sociology. She is originally from Samoa but has lived in Fiji for almost 20 years. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and History/Politics, a Postgraduate Diploma in International Affairs, and a Master’s degree in Politics and International Affairs from the University of the South Pacific. Atele has recently submitted her PhD thesis in Sociology. Her thesis explores the policy-practice gap in the treatment of corporal punishment in schools in Samoa. She takes interest in a variety of policy issues in the Pacific relating to children’s rights, human rights, gender, and security.
