Malakai Waqa Kaitani hails from the Lomaiviti Group in the Island of Koro who is a Master’s candidate and a Teaching Assistant with the School of Social Sciences. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social work and Sociology and Postgraduate Diploma in Sociology (USP). He has worked with Korean Airlines as Traffic Agent after graduating in 2017 and has been a part-time tutor and maker for the School of Geography, Sociology, and Social work during his Postgraduate journey. His current research thesis focuses on Climate-Induced displacement in two climate change frontier communities in Fiji. He is inspired to document why understanding indigenous identity is significant in the context of climate adaptation and resilience discourses in Fiji and the region.
