Prof. Stephen Pratt
Professor Pratt is no stranger to USP and returns to STHM after serving at the School from 2009 to 2012. From 2013 until his recent appointment at USP, he worked at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in the School of Hotel & Tourism Management. Steve holds Bachelor and Master degrees in Economics from the University of Sydney, Australia and a PhD from the University of Nottingham, UK. He is looking forward to building on the success of STHM, enhancing the quality of teaching, raising the research profile of the School and forging even closer links with the tourism and hospitality industry. Professor Pratt commented “I am excited to be back at USP and am looking forward to leading STHM as we aim to excel as a globally accomplished centre of expertise in tourism and hospitality management”. Prior to undertaking his PhD, Steve was a Research Director for several marketing consultancies both in Hawaii and Australia. His research interests include sustainable tourism development (economic, socio-cultural and environmental impacts of tourism), tourism in small island states and film tourism. Steve is co-creator of the popular YouTube channel, The Travel Professors. This channel provides a brief overview of current trends and issues in tourism and relate them to academic research. The channel provides additional educational resources for students and lecturers and for anyone curious about travel and tourism.
