Savaii Center Project
Campus: Samoa
Building: A55 – Savaii Center
Article
The Savai’i Resource Center, which houses the Salelologa Public Library and the University’s Savai’i Center, has undergone significant renovations to restore and enhance its facilities. Funded by Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGP), this upgrade bolsters education, accessibility, and community development in Samoa.
Originally built in 1982 and upgraded in 2002 and 2004, the building had deteriorated over time, necessitating urgent renovations to continue serving students and the public effectively. Owned by the Government of Samoa through MESC, the facility remains an important academic and learning hub for Savai’i.
Key Benefits:
- Structural Upgrades – Improved safety and durability.
- Modern Learning Spaces – Enhanced facilities for students and the community.
- Sustainability & Innovation – Future-proofing education infrastructure.
This project aligns with the University’s priorities, including deferred maintenance, student experience, sustainability, and innovation. The University and its stakeholders extend their gratitude to the Government of Japan for its generous support in making this project a reality.
