Happy New Year of the Rooster

----Experience the Chinese Lunar New Year at the Confucius Classroom at Emalus Campus, USP. 

On Jan 26, students at the Confucius Classroom at Emalus Campus at USP celebrate the Chinese lunar New Year. 

Activities include introduction of the Chinese New Year, tasting Chinese tea, sweets, etc. Learn to write Chinese character FU (fortune), the meaning, radical part, and write with the traditional Chinese brush. Games: Ask and answer questions about the Chinese New Year; Chopsticks match; Play Jianzi (shuttle cock). New Year greetings. Ben Ming Nian (the year of fate) custom: wearing red stuff to bring good luck. Make Rice Dumplings.

The event is one of the projects of the CC-USP to combine the introduction of the Chinese culture with Chinese language teaching which effectively expanded the language learning to the studentís daily life.

In order to experience the Chinese custom, Ms Lu acts as the studentís relative to put the red ring on the their wrist to wish them good luck in their year of fate (Ben Ming Nian). She wishes everyone an auspicious new year and wins warm applauds.

The party ends with a group blessing to all the Chinese around the globe by all the participants holding their calligraphy work FU.
