Mr. Nainendra Nand joined USP in January 2008 as a Senior Lecturer and Manager of the School of Law based in Suva, Fiji. Nainendra has taught at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, namely Courts and Dispute Resolution, Legislation and the Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice and the Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Drafting programmes.

Nainendra joined the University following a distinguished career in law which included practice in both the private and public sector and consultancy work spanning over twenty-eight years. He is a barrister of Lincoln’s Inn in London and a member of the Fiji Law Society.

Nainendra was the Solicitor General of Fiji from January 1997 and December 2006. During this time, he personally handled and oversaw may high profile litigation involving the Fijian Government. Nainendra was also the Legal Advisor to the President of Fiji, the Parliament of Fiji and the Governor of the Reserve Bank of Fiji. He also has extensive experience as a Chief Executive Officer and a Human Resource Manager.
Nainendra co-authored a textbook on Administrative Law entitled “Judicial Review Applications in Fiji – Principles and Materials”. He has contributed to charity and community work for over 30 years in Fiji and continues to do so.
