1. What is your home country?
I was born in Fiji but NZ has been my home for the last 30 years

2. What programme(s) did you graduate in and in which year? 
Diploma of Education in 1981

3. What was your most memorable moment as a student? 
Pacific Week - celebration of the diversity of cultures

4. Describe your experience while studying at USP 
Students were care-free, caring and communal 

5. What was your greatest achievement while studying at USP?
Making and maintaining lifelong friendships

6. After graduating from USP, what were some of the highlights of your career?
I’ve worked as a teacher in Fiji and NZ, a researcher, policy advisor and managed a variety of specialist teams in education, health and development assistance.

7. How do you think USP helped you in your career? 
It gave me an appreciation of the diversity and richness in Pacific cultures and a belief that the Pacific can contribute is own solutions for success.

8. After graduating from USP, what has been your greatest achievement? 
Research and publications in Pacific issues - including involvement in the “Rethinking Pacific Education” initiative - which still continues to encourage Pacific epistemology.

9. What inspires you and why? 
People who think outside the box - we need creative thinkers to challenge the way we view the world - through poetry, drama, music or research.

10. What advice would you give to current and future students of USP?
Education is a journey not a destination - you get out of it what you put into it. 

11. Any other information you would like to share? 
USP provides a good foundation for learning both academically and culturally. I have gone on to complete degrees and post graduate studies at other universities but the USP experience is unique. The cultural diversity affirms and promotes pride in being from the Pacific.
