New Zealand

3.What programme(s) did you graduate in and in which year?
B.A. GC Ed. 1973

4.What was your most memorable moment as a student? 
Too many related to academic achievements, student activism, creative writing, personal friendships developed with fellow students and staff.

5.Describe your experience while studying at USP.
A great introduction to the wider Pacific and global issues also.

6.What was your greatest achievement while studying at USP?
Completing undergraduate studies with excellent results and starting post-graduate studies which I completed later at the University of Hawaii n and East-West Centre Grant.

7.After graduating from USP, what were some of the highlights of your career?
Achieving success with senior positions with the Government of Fiji and the United Nations Development Programme H.Q. in New York.  

8.How do you think USP helped you in your career?
Provided a great initial world-class educational platform for further education, training and professional advancement.

9.After graduating from USP, what has been your greatest achievement?
Success and recognition of achievements from the highest levels while working for the UNDP HQ in New York.

10.What inspires you and why?
Desire for excellence in what-ever I do and the support of my wife.

11.What advice would you give to current and future students of USP?
Honesty, hard work and perseverance pay off at all times, even though it may take some time.

12.Please share your top three tips that you think are most important for our current students or recent graduates that will help them when starting out on their career paths.

13.What has your involvement been with the University since you graduated? 
Support through the UN system wherever possible, as for example on its Judicial Education Programme (late 1990s) and inputs on MOU on co- operation with UNDP while I was with UNDP HQ in N.Y.

14.Any other information you would like to share?
Many of the friendships I developed while at USP have withstood the test of time over the many past years. I would encourage all to expand their horizons beyond their own communities and countries, be in touch with the developments of the wider region and the world, and be re-assured that the graduates of the region can walk shoulder to shoulder with the best in the world.
