Authors'/Researchers' guidelines

Researchers are encouraged to submit an abstract on one of these or any other topic that closely relates to Sustainable Sea Transport for the Pacific:

  • Heritage Revival, Pacific Voyaging, Traditional Navigation, Arts (visual, weaving, carving, performance)
  • Networks, Collaboration, Relationships
  • Sea Transport Technology and Innovation
  • Blue/Green Economies, Financing, Policy
  • Research, Training, Qualifications, Regulation

The abstract should be no more than 300 words and submitted in type-written, single-spaced, in the Times New Roman (12 point) font, and Left justified. A list of 4-6 key words must be written in brackets at the end of the abstract. The title, author name(s) and addresses should be centred at the top of the abstract.

The deadline for the receipt of abstracts is November 30, 2013 and should be forwarded to the Talanoa organiser Alison Newell at email: alison.newell(at)usp.ac.fj.

Important information

The selection panel of the talanoa committee will consider all abstracts received by the submission deadline to ensure the topic is relevant to the Talanoa theme. All papers will also be blind reviewed by members of the committee to ensure an adequate standard, that the outline described in the abstract has been followed, that the paper is of a suitable length, that the standard of English is adequate, and that the paper is appropriately referenced.

The authors of abstracts that are accepted for presentation will receive a notification of abstract acceptance by January 31, 2014.

Full Paper: Only to be submitted if desired by author(s) and after acceptance of abstract. Not to be more than 5,000 words, (excluding abstract, keywords and references), double-spaced, 12-point letter size and font Times New Roman. Submission date will be no later than 31 May, 2014.
