First Female in the position of Director at USP Cook Islands Campus

Dr. Debi Futter-Puati, Director of USP Cook Islands Campus, assumed duties on 10 June 2019 and is the first ever female to hold this post.

Prior to joining the University of the South Pacific, Dr. Futter-Puati served as Lecturer in Education at Monash University, Australia as well as University of Waikato, New Zealand. She has served extensively in the field of education as well as working with the Government Ministries in the Cook Islands and civil society organizations.

Dr. Futter-Puati holds a Doctor of Philosophy from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University (2017), a Masters of Arts [History] from the University of Auckland (2009). Further she acquired her Postgraduate Diplomas in Special Education Studies, Advanced Teaching and Higher Teaching from Victoria University of Wellington in 2001, 1995 and 1991 respectively.

The Campus Director is supported by Office Manager, Ms. Tureheni File and Finance Assistant, Ms. Lavinia Fameitau.


USP Graduate Heads the Centre of Excellence in IT at USP Cook Islands Campus

Ms. Mii Nimerota, whom holds a Masters Degree in Information Systems, accredited to the Australian Computer Society, a Post Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Teaching, and a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Information Systems and Management & Public Administration from the University of the South Pacific (USP), was appointed Director of the Centre of Excellence in Information Technology (CEIT) in August 2019.

Mii has 10 years experience teaching information systems, information and communication literacy with USP, and has coordinated many community workshops in social media, website development, and basic computing skills to people of all ages. A Cook Islander, Ms. Nimerota is a longtime advocate for information technology advancement. As Director she is responsible for leading, steering, and managing the CEIT on behalf of the Cook Islands Government, and to ensure the delivery of relevant IT training opportunities to Cook Islands residents.

DCD Director Elected President for the USP Student Association Cook Islands Campus

Mani Mate, whom is the Director for the Development Coordination Division (DCD) at MFEM has been elected by the student body to represent them as President of the USP Student Association Cook Islands Campus President from October 2019.

Mr. Mate is currently studying towards Postgraduate Diploma in Climate Change with USP Cook Islands Campus. He has previously graduated from USP with a Diploma in Hotel Management (2013), a Bachelor of Commerce in Hotel Management (2015), Postgraduate Diploma in Arts (2018) and a Master of Commerce in Tourism and Hospitality (2018) and was chosen as Valedictorian for the 2018 Graduation.

Meet our Finance Assistant

Ms. Lavinia Fameitau, our newest team member, joined us June 9, 2020 as Finance Assistant. She works closely with the Office Manager to ensure payables, receivables and stock are kept up to date.

Meet our Office Manager

Ms. Tureheni File joined our team 11 May, 2017 as Office Manager, succeeding Mrs. Sheron Ali (Subhasni). Ms. File is responsible for client services, leadership & human resource management, financial management, web and social media platforms, marketing and advertising, oh&s and travel coordination.
