Workplace Health & Safety Inspections

The OHS Committee for the Faculty of Business & Economics in collaboration with the USP OHS Unit is delegated under the HASAW Act 1996 to determine the implementation of regular workplace preventative health and safety inspections.

These inspections are designed to proactively detect hazards that may pose potential sources of harm to staff and students and to activate intervention strategies to reduce or eliminate the risk of posed by these hazards

Following these inspections the FBE OHS Committee and the USP OHS team will convene a meeting with relevant stakeholder’s eg.Heads of Schools and Designated USP Property and Facilities Coordinator to discuss these hazards and  implement a work plan (Creation of Maintenance Job Cards) to have the risks posed by these hazards reduced or eliminated.

Each hazard identified in these inspections will be designated as a near miss and registered in building hazard and risk register. This building hazard and risk register will be an agenda item during committee meetings and part of regular reports by the FBE OHS Committee to Dean of Faculty Business and Economics and Heads of Schools.
