Research skills

Each semester, IRS workshops are held for postgraduate and undergraduate students. The sessions cover searching of select databases, searching the library catalogue, and using EndNote software to organise their research and write their references list. The schedule will be posted here each semester.

Teaching faculty can also request an IRS session for their course by contacting vasiti.chambers(at) or jamie.bloss(at)

Information research skills schedule:

Undergraduate Drop-In Sessions: - finished for Sem. 2 2018

Undergraduate drop-in's meet in the library conference room in the foyer.
These are typically held 3-4pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays and advertised on the tukutuku emails. No signup required. 

Postgraduate IRS classes:

14.5 hours of PG IRS classes are required in the first semester of enrolment for any PG students registered after 2018. Please see your offer letter and the handbook and calendar for more information. These sessions can usually be completed over the course of two Saturday sessions. 

Pre-registration is required. Registrations close at 4pm, 1 working day prior to the class.
