CFL staff develops Snap TopUp app

Pro Vice-Chancellor Flexible Learning and Director – CFL, Prof. Som Naidu with Snap TopUp App developer and CFL staff member, Sanjeet Chand.

Mobile technologies have become an essential part of our work, education and daily lives. Hence the need to keep them functional at all times without too much hassle. The Snap TopUp will help you do that.

Snap TopUp is an Android app that has been developed by a CFL staff member, Sanjeet Chand, which simplifies the recharging of pre-paid mobile phones with credit. It uses the device’s camera to scan the top up or recharge card which then tops up the balance using the Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) request.

The app eliminates the hassle of typing in the correct 12-digit pin into the phone. The idea came to Sanjeet when he was trying to top up his mobile but mistyped the pin and discarded the card (which was not retrievable). The incident made him think of a better and safe way to top up or recharge the mobile phone with credit using the phone’s camera by scanning the card.

The app is available from the Google Play Store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=snj.mobilerecharge
