  • Cyclone Winston – Campus not Spared

USP Lautoka Campus and its exam centers in Rakiraki, Tavua and Ba were not spared the brunt of cyclone Winston when it wreaked havoc in the Western Division on 20th and 21st February 2016.

The top or third floor of the campus was worst affected. While, the Ground floor was fine, 1st and 2nd floors sustained minor damages. In summary, there was damage to glass windows, window blinds, ceilings, wall ducting, rug/carpet, some equipment and all the air conditioning units for the top (3rd) floor.

Few teaching room PCs got wet together with a set of sound system and projector. Window blinds were also badly damaged in the affected rooms.

Among the three exam centers that fell in the path of devastation, Rakraki Center which is at Penang Sangam College was severely affected; especially with the center’s library roof being blown away leaving about 60% of the books in tatters.
