USP Tonga Campus

HISTORY

1971

The University was initially set up in Vaiola Motu'a.

1987

The University then re-located to its current location at 'Atele, therefore hosting the Rural Development. The new buildings were unveiled by His Majesty King Taufa'ahau Tupou IV, who was the 1st Chancellor of the University.

1994

The Ha'apai Centre was established in 1994.

1996

The Vava'u Centre was set up at Niue, The Govenor of Vava'us residence.

2010

The Institute of Education re-located to Tonga Campus.

2011

Tonga Campus started the MBA Programme with 52 students.

2013

Graduation Ceremony where HM King Tupou VI was installed as the 20th Chancellor.

2016

For the first time, USP Tonga campus offers complete Face-To-Face Science Programmes.

2018

The University of the South Pacific commemorates its 50th Anniversary.
