USP Lautoka’s Community Engagement through Blood Drives

There is always the need for a blood donation in order to save a life and the University of the South Pacific Lautoka Campus strives to make a constant contribution towards this valuable cause by organizing blood drives.

It’s most recent blood drive was held on Saturday, 9th September conveniently in the central city of Lautoka just outside the Campus, which attracted 44 donors.

In total 33 pints of blood was collected through this blood drive which comprised of students and staff of USP Lautoka and other members of the community.

USP Lautoka Blood Drive Committee Chairman Upendra Kumar said 19 out of the 33 eligible donors who turned up were notified about the blood drive via Vodafone text message of which 10 donors were first-timers.

Mr. Kumar said he greatly appreciated the donors coming forward to help in this cause, despite their busy schedule and commitments.

“On behalf of our blood drive community at USP Lautoka, I would like to immensely thank everyone who stepped in and contributed to the success of this blood drive,” he said.

“We hope you will continue to support our initiative to serve the community and help serve lives.”

Blood drives are part of USP Lautoka’s community outreach programme, an initiative the Campus is ardently committed to.

The Campus collected 40 pints of blood in June and plans to organize yet another blood drive in December.
