Lautoka Campus Director Applauds Graduating Staff

Three more staff of USP Lautoka graduated with USP qualifications on 22nd March this year (2019) with thousands of other graduates across the region.

Student Officer Arti Archana and Assistant Facilitator at USP’s Pacific TAFE, Jai Mishra graduated with Master of Commerce in Management and Public Administration while Administrative Officer, Amitesh Reddy graduated with Professional Diploma in Business Management (PDBM).

Archana, who is a third time USP graduate, described her recent achievement as one of the greatest milestones of her life.  She said graduating from Masters meant a great deal for her as she was the first one in her family to achieve such high level of qualification.  “To be honest I had never thought I would come this far in my academic journey and I feel extremely happy and proud of my accomplishment,” said Archana.

Archana said she was really thankful to USP, which as her employer, provided her the opportunity to upgrade her qualification.  She also thanked the Lautoka Campus Director, Dr. Devi for her guidance and support and the School of Management & Public Administration for offering courses through the campus upon students’ requests. “I hope that my family’s dream of completing my studies towards a PHD will see light one day soon,” she said.

Mishra described his learning journey at USP Lautoka as “very fruitful, enjoyable and mammoth” and said he would strongly recommend others to pursue their higher education and training at USP. “My message to the students is to always see sky as the limit and excel with the studies here at this university since USP is a brand name in the South Pacific for quality with affordability,” he said.

Mishra said he was extremely proud of his achievement which he said was quite relevant to his career goals, being an academic/facilitator in Human Resource Management. He said he was thankful to his wife, employer and colleagues for their support. “The word of encouragement and empowerment to accomplish my Master’s degree always came from my own powerful will, wife and almighty God,” he said.

It was a very special achievement for Reddy - a Pacific TAFE staff based at Namaka Training Centre because this was not only his first graduation with USP but also his first tertiary achievement ever. He was also part of the first Nadi-based cohort for this program.

Reddy said he thoroughly enjoyed this program and was fortunate to have good support and guidance from the lecturers and his group members.  “I graciously thank everyone who helped me along my learning journey, particularly the Pacific TAFE Coordinator Nilu Ram for constantly encouraging, motivating and pushing me to upgrade my qualification,” said Reddy.

USP Lautoka Campus Director Dr. Pramila Devi said it was pleasing to see the campus staff’s dedication and efforts towards reaching their academic goals. Dr. Devi said she hoped to see her staff continue to aim for higher and also assist and motivate others along the way.
