Graduation at The University of the South Pacific


The University of the South Pacific is proud to help you celebrate your academic achievements with family and friends.
You can choose to do this in a traditional way by attending a ceremony at the Campus you are currently registered in, or graduate without attending.

Graduation is not automatic

You must apply to graduate in your final semester before the due date.  Do not wait for your results to be released!

Students who completed their programme in

       - Flexi-School in Summer Dec 2020 to Jan 2021

were required to apply for graduation before the closing date.

Students who have completed their programme in an earlier semester and who have not graduated could have applied for this graduation ceremony.

2021 April will have Graduation Ceremonies in two (2) days:

    2:00pm   School of Accounting, Finance & Economics (SAFE) & School of Information, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Physics (STEMP)

23 April : 

    9:00am   School of Agriculture, Geography, Environment, Ocean and Natural Sciences (SAGEONS) & School of Pacific Arts, Communication and Education (SPACE)

Alafua Campus

All Samoan students who have completed their programme, or who are completing their programme, are required to submit a manual application form at Student Administrative Services at Alafua Campus or at Laucala Campus.

Student of other nationalities studying at Alafua Campus who wish to graduate may also apply.

Student are required to contact Alafua campus for details on the ceremony.

7 May
Emalus Campus

All ni-Vanuatu students who have completed their programme, or who are completing their programme, are required to submit a manual application form at Student Administrative Services at Emalus Campus or at Laucala Campus.


Student are required to contact Emalus campus for details on the ceremony.

14 & 15 October
Laucala Campus

Students who are completing their programme in:
    - Semester 1 2021,
      - Trimester 1 2021,
      - Flexi-School in June to July 2021.

are required to apply for graduation before the closing date.

Applications can be submitted online through your student SOLS account

Student who have completed their programme in an earlier semester and who have not graduated can also apply for this graduation ceremony.

Solomon Islands students who will complete their programmes at the end of Semester 1 2021, Trimester 1 or Trimester 2 2021, or during the 2021 June-July Winter Flexi-School term, are required to apply for graduation now. Applications for this graduation cannot be submitted via SOLS therefore you are required to submit a manual application at Student Administrative Services (Laucala Campus) or at the Solomon Islands Campus.

Note: If you are intending to graduate on September 25th 2021 then please DO NOT submit an application for the Laucala Campus graduation on 17&18 September.

Tonga Campus

Graduate Destination Survey (GDS) Questionaire: 

All graduands are required to complete the GDS online questionnaire prior to collecting Academic Dress using the following survey link:  https://gds.usp.ac.fj 

The GDS is intended as a guide to the success rate of graduates in finding employment following completion of their degree.  It provides an indicator whether or not University graduates are getting employed after completing their studies.  Further, the information is helpful in understanding labour mobility especially on graduate intake by the different types of industries.

Tickets are required for all ceremonies held at Laucala Campus but it may differ for other campus ceremonies.

Laucala Campus

If you received a Completion of Programme letter that confirms you will be graduating on Thursday, 22nd April 2021 or Friday, 23rd April 2021 at the Laucala campus Graduation ceremony you need to note the following changes. 

All graduates will graduate under the new academic structure of USP.  i.e under the Schools instead of Faculties.  This means you will be presented by the Heads of School to the Chancellor of the University.

 

22 April 2021

There will be TWO sessions on the 22nd April, 2021 at the Vodafone Arena.  There will be tickets for each session.  These tickets will be available at Student Administrative Services office from Thursday 8th April 2021.

Session 1 :    The first session of the Laucala Campus Graduation ceremony is for the

                      School of Business Management (SBM) & School of Law and Social Science (SoLASS)

                      Time:  9:00am - 11:00am

                      Marshaling Time:      7:30am
                      Start of procession:  8:30am

Session II :   The second session of the Laucala Campus Graduation ceremony is for the

                      School of Accounting, Finance and Economics (SAFE) &
                      School of Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Physics (STEMP)

                      Time: 2:00pm - 4:00pm

                      Marshaling Time:      12:30pm
                      Start of procession:   1:30pm

 

 

23 April 2021

Session III:   The third session of the Laucala Campus Graduation ceremony is for the

FIJI SPORT COUNCIL RESTRICTIONS

The Fiji Sports Council has advised that due to COVID-19 social distancing will be strongly observed. This means that the venue will only allow 50% of its full capacity into the venue.

Restrictions on the admission of CHILDREN and OLD people.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions imposed by the Fiji Sports Council, children 12 years and below and persons over the age of 65 will not be admitted to the graduation venue.

CEREMONY TICKETS

Admission into the graduation venue will be by ticket only.   As a result of the Fiji Sports Council restrictions you will be issued 2 ceremony ticket for TWO guest only

Persons collection ticket on behalf of a graduand must have a letter of authority and photo identification.  The authorised individual must produce either a valid Driver's Licenses or FNPF card or passport.  The letter of authorisation must state the graduand's student identification number, programme of study that he/she is being awarded.

 

CareFiji APP:

The Fiji Sports Council will require everyone to download the CareFiji App on their phone and ensure this is activated when they enter the venues. Those who do not have

this App will be required to register their details on the spot and this will take time. To avoid delay in entering the venues Fiji Sports Council advises that you have the app

downloaded on your phone as well as your guestís before the graduation day. 

 CareFIJI is a mobile application developed under the digitalFiji initiative to assist the Ministry of Health and Medical Services speed up the contact tracing and help stop the spread of COVID-19.

As a graduand, you may choose to attend the ceremony or graduate in absentia.

Graduate without attending a ceremony (Absentia)

You can choose to graduate without attending the ceremony.  This is called graduating in absentia and means your award is conferred at the ceremony and you will receive your award certificate (testamur) and official academic transcript later. 

There is no charge to graduate in absentia but you need to inform the the following person(s) and state your current postal address:

Please note, if you send someone to collect your documents they must have a letter of authority from the graduand and identification.
