Teaching and research

I joined USP in 2018 from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom. I specialised in the field of language documentation and description with a focus on New Caledonian languages. In my PhD dissertation I examined the expression of space in Caac, an Oceanic language spoken in New Caledonia. I also have some experience on documenting a Papuan language of the Solomon Islands. I have taught French and English Linguistics at the University of Manchester since 2015, and more recently, French language and Academic English for the language centre of this University. I have trained in both European and Austronesian Linguistics (PhD) and second language teaching (CELTA).

More generally, my research interests are Pacific languages, linguistic typology, language contact, the relationships between a language, the culture and the environment of its speech community, and issues related to language endangerment and revitalization.

Qualifications

PhD in Linguistics (2015, at The University of Manchester, UK); MA English Linguistics (2008, at Paris 3 – Sorbonne Nouvelle, Paris); and BA in English studies (Licence LLCE, 2003 at Paris 3 – Sorbonne Nouvelle, Paris). Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages qualification (CELTA, 2016 in Manchester).

And food for thought
