Sudesh Mishra is the author two critical monographs, including Diaspora Criticism (Edinburgh UP, 2006), five volumes of poetry, including The Lives of Coat Hangers (Otago UP, 2016), two full-length plays and several short stories.  His research papers have appeared in New Literary History, Meanjin, Subaltern Studies, Australian Humanities Review, Continuum, Social Text, Borderlands, Emergences, Oxford Literary Review, The Journal of Pacific History and The Contemporary Pacific. 

Sudesh has had his creative work feature in a wide array of publications, including Nuanua: Pacific Writing in English since 1980 (1995), Concert of Voices: An Anthology of World Writing in English (1995),The Indigo Book of Modern Australian Sonnets (2003), Over There: Poems from Singapore and Australia (2008), Sixty Indian Poets (2008), The Bloodaxe Book of Contemporary Indian Poetry (2008), Out of Bounds: British Black and Asian Poets (2012), The World Record (2012), HarperCollins Book of Modern English Poetry (2012), The Turnrow Anthology of Contemporary Australian Poetry (2013), Contemporary Asian Australian Poets (2013) and Contemporary Australian Poetry (2016). 

He has contributed a long entry on Diaspora Criticism to the second edition of the Encyclopedia of Aesthetics (OUP, 2014). 

More recently he has written on Joseph Conrad in ‘Through the Eye of Surplus Accumulation:  Joseph Conrad’s The Nigger of the ‘Narcissus’ and Typhoon,’ Tracking the Literature of Tropical Weather: Typhoons, Hurricanes, Cyclones, A. Collett, R. McDougall and S. Having previously taught at universities in Australia and Britain, he presently holds the position of Professor in the School of Language, Arts and Media at the University of the South Pacific.

Professor Mishra has an interest in supervising postgraduate dissertations in the following areas: Postcolonial Studies, Diaspora Criticism, Modernity and Modernism, Global South Studies, Popular Hindi Cinema\ and Minor Histories of the Pacific.
