USP Records Increase in its Student Numbers as it Enters its Orientation Week - 23 Feb 2021 11:03:01 am
Admissions for resuming students have increased by 21%. Resuming students include those that have returned to studies after 3 years or are moving to a higher programme.
The student numbers are expected to increase further as we get close to the beginning of Semester 1 which begins on 1 March.

The University of the South Pacific Laucala Campus is looking forward to welcoming new students to its 2021 Orientation Week that will take place from 22 - 26 February 2021.
Orientation sessions for all Schools and other academic units will be held at the Australia Pacific Lecture Theatre. The transition workshops will be held at the N111 Lecture Theatre. These workshops are offered to students to assist them in a smooth transition to University Life and covers topics such as Managing Studies; Academic Reading and Writing; and Starting off Strong and Information Research Skills.

The University of the South Pacific (USP) Samoa Campus has partnered with Vodafone Samoa to hold its 2021 Enrolment Fair and Orientation at its main campus and at the Savaii Centre.
The Enrolment Fair is being held from 17-19 February and Enrolment will be on 25 and 26 February. The Enrolment Fair is being held for new and continuing students to provide them support and advice to help them choose their programme of study and courses.

Avinesh Mani is USP’s Lose It Challenge 2020 Champion - 16 Feb 2021 12:00:05 pm
Avinesh Mani, a member of staff at the Pacific Technical and Further Education (Pacific TAFE), has won the USP Lose It Challenge 2020 after an impressive 17.9 Kgs weight loss that also won him F$500 as the first prize.
Mani lost the weight after following a healthy eating and calories deficit diet, together with a daily exercise program.
“I have always wanted to lose the excessive weight over the years, but nothing had motivated me so I joined the Lose It Challenge to push me to lose the weight,” he said.

The University of the South Pacific (USP) has made an outstanding contribution to a new Special Issue focussing on Pacific marine science. The Special Issue entitled “Ecosystem resilience and human impact in the Pacific Oceanscape: current status and future directions” is published in an eminent journal called Marine Pollution Bulletin which has an impressive academic impact factor of above four.

Private students who choose to study at the University of the South Pacific this year can apply and take advantage of the USP Bursary Scheme offered by the University to ease their financial burden.
The Bursary Scheme provides financial assistance for approximately 250 – 300 undergraduate or postgraduate level scholarships per semester for students from all its member countries. The University of the South Pacific Enrolment Fair 2021 that commenced yesterday, Friday 5 February began attracting a large crowd on its first day, as new and continuing students made their way to the University’s Laucala Campus to get enrolled.
The Fair, situated at the USP Laucala Campus student carpark, is an Information Space serviced by staff from all academic units to assist students aspiring to enrol for Semester 1 beginning 1 March 2021.
