Tonga Campus follow-up its Secondary Principal and Teacher Consultations through School Visits - 20 Jan 2021 11:21:10 am
USP Tonga Campus Director, Dr Robin S. Havea and his staff are now visiting secondary schools in Tonga as a follow up of to its Principal and Teacher Consultations in November last year. The six schools visited were Ocean of Light, Tupou High School, Saint Andrew, Tupou College, ‘Apifoou College, Tonga High School and Tonga College. Other schools such as Liahona High School and Takuilau College will be visited this month (January). Tuvalu Campus Celebrates Its Achievements and Plan for 2021 - 14 Jan 2021 09:04:44 am
USP Tuvalu Campus have begun the year by celebrating its 2020 academic achievements and working on the 2021 Development Plan and preparations for student enrolment for Semester 1.     The Campus achieved a 95.6% overall pass rate.  According to the Tuvalu Campus Director, Dr Rosiana Lagi, this was a milestone achievement, when compared to a 57.4% pass rate in 2017. Dr Lagi attributed this success to face to face tutorial support for the students and largely the students’ commitment to their studies.&... More »

USP Declared A Smoke-Free University - 5 Jan 2021 02:47:17 pm
The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Pal Ahluwalia officially declared the University smoke-free throughout its campuses yesterday and unveiled a smoke-free signage at Laucala Campus. From 4 January, 2021 all campuses and rented facilities where USP business is undertaken will be smoke-free zones, except for staff residences on campus. Today USP farewelled one of its longest-serving staff, Dr. Akanisi Kedrayate, Head of the Faculty of Arts, Law, and Education (FALE).   Dr. Kedrayate began her career at USP as Head of School of Humanities in 2002 before taking on the role of the Dean of FALE in 2005.   During her farewell, Dr. Kedrayate thanked God for strength and guidance. Seventeen journalism students were rewarded and recognised during the 20th University of the South Pacific Journalism Student Awards Night on 10 December.    The USP Journalism Awards is the longest running, most consistent journalism awards in the Pacific region.   The Most Outstanding Graduating Students award went to Jared Koli and Shreya Kumar. Ben Bilua wins an international fellowship in Denmark - 16 Dec 2020 09:45:00 am
Final year USP journalism and law student Ben Bilua from Solomon Islands has been chosen as one of only two university journalism students in the region to win an international fellowship in Denmark after competing in an Australasian student journalism project across 27 institutions.   The fellowship prize winners were among hundreds of students across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific, who took part in the multimedia project, encompassing a three-day television broadcast, radio show, and podcast series as well as published work on The Junction. ...
