Emalus Campus hosts Climate Change Lecture Series - 8 Apr 2019 10:19:50 am
The University of the South Pacific’s (USP), Faculty of Science, Technology and Environment (FSTE) based at the Emalus Campus in Vanuatu organised two public lectures as part of a “Climate Change Public Lecture Series” which began last year.
The lecture, “EcoAdapt in the Pacific: Microeconomic Analysis” was delivered on 3rd April 2019 by Professor Christopher Fleming of Griffith University.

Eight students of The University of the South Pacific (USP) studying under the Australia Awards Pacific Scholarships (AAPS) were recognised for their efforts in a special ceremony at the Laucala Campus on 4 April 2019.
Ms Lorissa Hazelman welcomed the students and also congratulated the new recipients on receiving AAPS for 2019.
“It is a unique privilege to study under AAPS at one of only two regional universities in the world and the Australia Government is proud to be associated with USP,” she noted.

A two-day Youth Co-Lab Conference co-hosted by The University of the South Pacific (USP), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Ministry of Youth and Sport (MYS), and AusAID was held at the Innovation Hub, ICT Building A at the Laucala Campus from 26-27 March 2019.
The conference brought together young people from all over Fiji who engaged with youth advocates from various organisations within Fiji and around the region. The event was organised to align with the MYS Main Conference which was hosted consecutively at the Australia-Pacific Lecture Theatre at the Laucala Campus.

Students who took part in the Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths (JENESYS) project 2018 are grateful for the opportunity and have said they would not have traded the experience for anything else.
The JENESYS Programme is an initiative in partnership with the Government of Japan where University students from 14 Pacific Island Countries (PICs) including Australia and New Zealand are provided fully funded Nine Day study tours to Japan.

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Graduate School of Business (GSB) organised an Alumni lecture evening for its 2019 Master of Business Administration graduates at the Statham Campus on 20 March.
Professor Gurmeet Singh, Head of the GSB and MBA Programme Director, warmly welcomed everyone to the event and extended a special acknowledgement to the Chief Guest, Mr Arif Ali, Governor of the Reserve Bank of Fiji who was alumni speaker for the evening.

A final year student of The University of the South Pacific (USP) recently attended a weeklong Orientation programme at Australia’s Macquarie University, as part of his prize for scooping the Westpac Buddy of the Year 2018 award recipient.
USP has a Buddy programme under Campus Life’s First Year Experience Office, which links senior students with first year students to help them with a seamless transition into university life.

The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Emalus Campus in Vanuatu received a delegation from the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) Asia-Pacific Regional Director, Prof Ouidad Tebbaa on 7 March 2019.
Professor Tebbaa was accompanied by Dr Carole Wahnoun, Director of AUF in Vanuatu and the visit was facilitated by Ms Daniela Molnar, French Programme Coordinator at Emalus Campus, who also took the team on a campus tour.

The University of the South Pacific (USP), Pacific Technical and Further Education (Pacific TAFE) recognized its high achieving student in a medal and prize giving ceremony at the FMF gymnasium on 19 March 2019.
Sixteen (16) students from Pacific TAFE walked away with gold medal and prizes from the 17 award categories.

In May 2017 Unita Ramswarup lost her husband to kidney failure. The mother of four was soon forced into a dark world without her soul partner and could not imagine how she would survive.
"At the time of his passing our children were all in Primary School and the pain and grief that his untimely death caused me was unimaginable, but I knew that I needed to be strong knowing that I was now the sole provider for my children," shared an emotional Ms Ramswarup after she graduated last week.

For 43 year old Michelle Muavesi coming back to further her studies at University after 20 years was a tough decision to make, however it proved to be one of the best decisions she had made after she graduated in Professional Diploma in Business Management.
