Faaizah Farha Ali is building a strong foundation for success as a newly enrolled student at The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Laucala Campus in Fiji.

A recent graduate of Cuvu College, she is pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Information Systems) degree. Originally from Sigatoka, Ali said her programme of choice was fueled by her passion for numbers and technology.

“I developed a love for accounting and computer science in high school. I enjoy working with numbers and solving problems as it excites and challenges me at the same time,” the 19-year-old shared.

She said her decision to enrol at USP was influenced by a school visit from the University’s team.

“When the USP team visited our school and spoke to us about their programmes, rankings and support services, I realised it was the perfect place to start my university journey,” she said.

“The globally-recognised programmes and opportunities made me eager to apply.”

Ali’s drive to succeed is deeply rooted in her family values and the influence of her father, Dilraz Ali.

“My father is my greatest inspiration. Despite the hardships we have faced, he always provides for us and constantly motivates me to work harder so I can give back to my family and community,” she said.

Her proud father, Dilraz Ali, said his family was proud their eldest daughter was embarking on higher learning at USP.

“We come from a farming background and Faaizah has always been humble, caring, and hardworking,” he shared.

“One of the major challenges we have encountered is the poor condition of the roads in our neighborhood, which has often hindered Faaizah from attending school regularly, particularly during rainy weather. Sadly, this remains a persistent problem for students currently pursuing their education.”

His advice to Faaizah and other students embarking on university studies is simple yet powerful – study hard to achieve your dreams.

As Ali prepares for this new chapter, she is excited to meet students from around the region and immerse herself in USP’s diverse cultural environment.

“Apart from my studies, I’m looking forward to learning from others and experiencing the different cultures. This is an exciting part of university life,” she said.

“My aim this year is to study hard and stay focused on my goals. Challenges will come, but determination will always take us far.”

With unwavering determination, strong family support, and a clear vision for the future, Faaizah Farha Ali is on a path to success—proving that perseverance and passion can lead to great achievements.
