Students attending the MBA orientation at the GSB at Statham Campus.
More than 115 students took advantage of the orientation session hosted by The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme at the Statham Campus on 26 January and 2 February 2019.
The MBA, known for its excellence in the Oceania Region, is offered by USP’s Graduate School of Business (GSB).
Professor Gurmeet Singh, Head of School and MBA Programme Director congratulated the students for securing a place at the University.
As part of the programme, students were given the opportunity to meet several alumni who introduced their work, and they also had meaningful engagement with USP staff members.
Mr. Mahendra Shyam, MBA Alumni from the Fiji Police Force, gave an inspiring speech to the new MBA/PGC students about cultivating the right values, right attitudes and right skills-sets as leaders.
He advised the students that “this is the beginning of a journey to discover yourself. Be accountable, be respectful. Before you speak, THINK (is it Thoughtful, Honest, Intelligent, Necessary and Kind)?”.
The session also included presentations from the various sections of USP.
USP Finance Policies and Procedures were highlighted by the Finance staff followed by relevant presentations about the library, such as, exploring online databases, and conducting an effective internet search. Students were also briefed about the strategies in managing learning.
This was followed by providing an overview of online enrolment, registration, Moodle training and soft skills development.
The students were energised, eager and excited to start the new academic session of the MBA/PGC programme and were awarded certificates of participation by Professor Singh.
