Students, staff and members of the public took advantage of The University of the South Pacific (USP) 2024 Careers Fair to explore potential employment opportunities with various organisations this week.
Hosted at the USP Laucala Campus in Suva, Fiji, the Careers Fair provides the opportunity to connect our students with organisations they see their future with, attend career talk sessions, and learn about recruitment guidelines.
Forty organisations representing diverse industries participated in this year’s Careers Fair and offered participants a glimpse of what they can expect when they join the workforce.
Opening the event on Wednesday, Head of School of Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Physics (STEMP) Professor Bibhya Sharma said, “It is important to embrace the uncertainty of a world of possibilities and this Fair is designed to empower you to explore various career pathways, connect with people, and learn from industry leaders.”
With the theme Career Fusion: Navigating Your Next Chapter, the Fair focuses on the dynamic landscape of today’s job market and emphasises the need for adaptability, creativity, and resilience.
“Our industries are evolving rapidly with technological advances, digitalisation, and sustainability. Seize this opportunity to engage with various organisations’ representatives, attend workshops, and not be afraid to ask questions,” added Prof Bibhya.
Some students who attended the various career talks and engaged with different organisations at the Fair reiterated the importance of linking students with organisations to ensure they can establish connections and are guided towards a career they envision.
Participating companies and organisations also expressed their gratitude as the Fair allows them to seek candidates for interns and/or employees and engage with students who wish to pursue their careers in specific fields.
The USP 2024 Careers Fair is not just about seeking employment opportunities; it is also about crafting a fulfilling career that aligns with one’s passion and ambitions.
