USP FALAH Project team undertake secondments in France

A few members of The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) staff and students under the Family Farming, Lifestyle and Health (FALAH) project are currently in France undertaking their Pacific-Europe secondments.

A major FALAH project deliverable is the secondment for researchers and PhD students between Pacific and Europe FALAH consortium institutions.

This team comprises Dr Hilda Waqa-Sakiti (USP FALAH Project Coordinator) and two PhD students, Mr Filipe Veisa and Ms Jyoti Prasad.

The secondments allow for research, networking and collaboration between Pacific and European research institutes.

The team will be hosted and work closely with colleagues from the University of Toulouse Jean Jaures and the University of Le Havre, France, meeting and expanding their research network throughout the secondment.

The FALAH Project falls under the European Commission Horizon 2020 Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions and Research and Innovation Staff Exchange – RISE, and 1.3 million euros were awarded to the consortium members of the project.

The University of New Caledonia (UNC) leads the FALAH project, which brings together 14 institutions from the Pacific region and Europe, of which USP is a consortium partner institute.

Special acknowledgements to the project funders: the EC H-2020 FALAH project and the AUF NERE NAHAL Developing Resilience through Capacity Development on FALAH in PICs (DeResCap) project that made this Pacific- Europe secondment possible.
