The University of the South Pacific (USP), led by the Pacific TAFE, participated in the HOTEC Tradeshow 2024 that was recently held at the Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort in Nadi.
Organised by the Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association (FHTA), HOTEC is the largest hospitality tradeshow in Fiji, attracting both national and international stakeholders from the hospitality and tourism sectors.
USP’s participation as an exhibitor and sponsor highlights the institution’s strong industry engagement and its commitment to advancing education and training in the region.
USP Pacific TAFE has established valuable partnerships with key industry leaders, including FHTA and the Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC), to co-host the Hospitality Skills Competition 2024. This competition showcases the talents of bartenders, baristas, and culinary experts and is being held at both USP’s Laucala Campus and the Nadi Hospitality & Tourism Training Centre (NHTTC) in Namaka.
In addition, USP Pacific TAFE has partnered with Punjas and Fonterra New Zealand to welcome Chef Marcus Braun, Anchor brand ambassador and Fonterra NZ consultant, to NHTTC during HOTEC 2024.
These collaborations emphasise USP’s commitment to enhancing practical skills and elevating hospitality education standards across the Pacific.
HOTEC 2024 provided a platform to highlight the hospitality and tourism programmes delivered by Pacific TAFE.
Elenoa Mataitoga, the Hospitality Operations Trainer at NHTTC, along with her dedicated students, engaged with industry professionals at the tradeshow. Their goal was to highlight USP’s world-class training, career development opportunities, and the wide range of hospitality-specific courses available to the region.
USP’s participation at HOTEC reinforces its steadfast commitment to nurturing industry relationships, improving training delivery, and expanding career opportunities for workers in Fiji and the wider Pacific region.
