Family, friends and supporters in attendance will witness 267 students graduating from The University of the South Pacific’s (USP), Emalus Campus graduation ceremony in Vanuatu today, Friday 2 May 2025.
Of the total graduates, 186 are females. The graduation session features students from Vanuatu, Fiji, Kiribati, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands and Tuvalu.
USP Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Pal Ahluwalia said the University was proud to celebrate the students’ remarkable achievements and boundless potential.
“Your journey has been marked by challenges, and yet here you are, embodying the spirit of strength and perseverance that characterises the people of Vanuatu. This graduation marks a continuation of the story you’ve shaped through your diligence, passion, and unwavering focus,” he said.
“You have studied at The University of the South Pacific, an institution built for the region and especially for the people of Vanuatu. Your education here equips you not just with degrees but with the spirit of innovation, community, and environmental stewardship that our Pacific needs now more than ever.”
“In a world facing inequality, and uncertainty, it is your understanding of both academic knowledge and traditional wisdom that will make the difference. It is your dual inheritance – of education and culture – that equips you to build solutions grounded in community, sustainability, and Pacific pride.”
The graduates are from the various disciplines in the School of Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Physics (STEMP), School of Business and Management (SBM) and School of Agriculture, Geography, Environment, Oceans and Natural Sciences (SAGEONS), School of Accounting, Finance and Economics (SAFE), School of Law and Social Sciences (SoLaSS), School of Pacific Arts, Communication and Education (SPACE), Pacific Technical and Further Education (PTAFE) and the Pacific Centre for Environmental and Sustainable Development (PACE-SD).
